Ideas,

I came across a similar idea but it was for only one character,

The Idea I thought of  is a "doole it yourself" where there are half draw characters in a book, where the holder of the book could come up with the rest of the story, so a half drawn pin up girl, a half drawn man, a half drawn animal. These are the only thing that are on the pages, the rest is blank so that you can let your imagination run wild! i'm going to make a little book to show how it will look, one page with just the half drawn character, the next page the half drawn character in a senario. (pictures will be up shorty!)

What do you guys think?

Talking to neil

I spoke to Neil (one of my professors) about our ideas, and he likes what we have but we just need to look into them more and document out ideas!

He also knows i work in a night club and said maybe look into the cocktail service? As I am a cocktail VIP waitress i can see what we could bring from the bar to slam?
maybe a set where people can make their own cocktails? or something slam could make for a bar? bring the experience home? as making your own cocktails are pretty much becoming a big thing over here? what do you guys think?

Also what have you guys come up with? any more ideas?

Money Tree

Here is the sketch I used for the money tree idea,

So instead of it looking like this maybe it could look like this? ...

Presentation Feedback

Hello my lovelies!

Sorry it's taken a while for me to write this up! But the presentation went well!

They like the 'money clip' and Tim came up with a good idea of rotating the tree so instead of it being cut in half, the tree goes along the money. So basically look into doing that then move on from it.

They didn't really say much about the rest of the ideas, I put a few in that i came up last minute but the Dinosaur forks have already been done! HEART BROKEN!!!!

Also they said not to look at any more existing ideas, as it might be made by a rival company (which would be delightfully awkward)

So i think it is just develop some of the ideas we came up with, and decide on some new ones, maybe brainstorming sketches, even if they are silly little things? And then post them up on here?

What do you poppets think?

The presentation...

GOOD LUCK AND BREAK AND LEG! ..o! (break a leg...play on words for a new concept?) haha anyway good luck hope it goes well. let us know what happens.. NIGHT!..or good morning for you haha

-Conrad and Nick

Party Scenario

So you have a couple guests over and the polite thing to do is serve them a nice cold drink. Typically some one would just put regular boring ice cubes in the drink. But you're the coolest host in the UK so you decide to use SLAM's (future) creative funny ice cubes which surprise your guests and put smiles on their faces.

making tea scenario

Sorry i dont know why they are uploading sideways. This is for the Tea Scenario...Go to the kitchen to make some tea. instead of just using a Tea bag which is boring and all of them look the same, you decide to go with a clever little Tea infuser that looks like a sinking boat or fish or scuba diver. This becomes a cool conversation starter. Or even if you have guests you can surprise them by putting a funny tea infuser in their tea as well

money clip scenario

Scenario: the consumer is going out to a bar or club downtown. The over sized wallet is too much of a hassle for the user and he doesn't want to risk bringing all of his belongings. The idea of a smaller money clip is much more appealing and convenient.

LOVE THIS

I swear i have fallen in love with everything on the fre and friends website! I love the feel of everything on there and I defiantly think it will help spark up ideas for us!

These are a few that are my favourite! what do you guys think?

^^ i LOVE this! it's so fun and different!

http://fredandfriends.com/products/view/category/party/cool-jazz-ice-stirrers

^^ With this one we could totally be cheeky and instead of having it as a guitar, we could do a collection? Like using different instruments! Maybe a saxophone, a violin, banjo, trumpet, sitar?

^^ I TOTALLY HAVE THESE! i brought them in the market place in philadelphia when i was over last year!!!!

http://fredandfriends.com/products/view/category/kitchen/teacupcakes-cupcake-molds

cool site to check out

Here is a site that has a TON of crazy things. If I was rich i'd buy everything on here. There are a lot of products on here that could fit in with SLAM. http://thisiswhyimbroke.com/

Also, im sure the U.S students over there have mentioned http://fredandfriends.com/products Their designs are SUPER clever and a majority of their products seem to be designed off of word play. The examples you guys showed on skype the other day also would fit in with this.

Just a wee bit about ourselves

ELLO POPPET! Nick and Conrad here with an even cheesier picture. We are both 3rd year industrial design students at Philadelphia university. We are both from the jersey shore but we do not pump our fists. We have been besties since we were 5 years old and make a killer team. We are super excited to work with you and cant wait to discuss some design on skype over Tea and biscuits.

A website I've just found

I don't think this is a very well known website, http://www.howkapow.com/ but it has such lovely off beat products!

One of my favourite ideas on here is the 'light up your mood' stickers, (http://www.howkapow.com/henrietta-swift-mood-stickers) they are so simple, but are so much fun! We were talking in the studio and said it is more about how people are interacting with a product, the situation it is in, and the story it has to tell. So this little design is fabulous!

Look through this website as it sparks a lot of ideas!

Useful websites

I looked into products not only from SLAM but from other companies to see what sort of thing would fit into SLAM. (here is SLAM's website just in case you havent seen it yet...) http://www.slamdesign.co.uk/

A website in particular that I found which showed loads of different, quirky and perfectly up SLAM's street was http://www.suck.uk.com/ . Even though they aren't really in any of the 'themed' topics we have been given it still gives you an idea of what type of thing to look for!

Looking into Alessi designs will help as it will give a more sophisticated version of what SLAM hopes to achieve. http://www.alessi.com/

Just a little about me!

We were told to introduce ourselves as we will be working together for a while! (Even though we have kinda done this over facebook!) So...

... Hi guys! I'm Jessica, 3rd year Product Design student at Lincoln University. I'm from a rural english farm town called Ashby de la Zouch. I've played the violin and piano all my life and also a qualified scuba diver!

Here is a delightfully cheesy picture to accompany this little introduction!
